RGAQ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT BURSARIES

The Regional Galleries Association of Queensland is offering two types of funding for professional development activities in 2008. Only one application per organisation will be funded in 2008, although more than one person may be listed on the application.

1. VOLUNTEER SECTOR

FUNDING IS PROVIDED IN TWO AREAS

(a)      Volunteer Individual Bursary

Grants of up to a maximum of $500 are available for individual gallery/museum volunteers as assistance to attend seminars, conferences or courses. Grants can be used towards conference registration fees, associated workshop fees, travel, accommodation and living expenses during the period of the conference.
Closing Date: First day of every month until funds are expended.
Amount: Up to $500.

(b)      Volunteer Organisational Grant

Grants to assist volunteer-run public galleries/museums to undertake organisational initiatives. These might include:

  • Costs towards improvements in the gallery/museum exhibition program such as touring exhibition fees and display improvements.
  • An appropriate consultant to work with the institution on skill development in areas such as Education and Public Programs; Exhibition Development; or Strategic Planning and Policy Development.
  • On-site training workshops and seminars in specialist areas such as volunteer recruitment, board management and gallery/museum practice.

Closing Date: 1 July 2008
Amount: Up to $1,500 per organisation. It is expected that the organisation will make a contribution to the initiative (can be in-kind).

 

2. INDIVIDUAL BURSARIES FOR PAID STAFF

 Grants of up to a maximum of $500 are available for individual gallery/museum paid staff as assistance to attend seminars, conferences or courses. Grants can be used towards conference registration fees, associated workshop fees, travel, accommodation and living expenses during the period of the conference.
Closing Date: First day of every month until funds are expended.
Amount: Up to $500.

 

Eligibility

Open to current RGAQ member galleries and their paid and volunteer staff.
